What’s With All the Injuries… AGAIN?

What’s With All the Injuries… AGAIN?

All Offseason we said our prayers and kept our fingers crossed that we would have a healthy Offensive Line in 2016. So far there’s been a pretty healthy Offensive Line, that did a great job of protecting Rivers in Week 1. However, injuries continue to strike again in other positions, all of which are Offensive players. Some important players like Jeff Cumberland, Stevie Johnson, Branden Oliver and Keenan Allen have all gone down prior to Week 2.  It wasn’t until Week 3 of 2015, when all of our Offensive Lineman started falling down like dominos. Philip Rivers has expressed his shock in losing such pivotal offensive weapons this early in 2016.

Here’s some details on each player’s injury:

TE Jeff Cumberland (Torn Achilles)

WR Stevie Johnson (Torn Meniscus)

RB Branden Oliver (Torn Achilles)

WR Keenan Allen (Torn ACL)

What’s with all the injuries again? I know some may be thinking… “well, injuries are a part of the NFL.” Yes, they are, but this is pretty bad. Following an injury-prone year of 2015, we lose these 4 key guys already; all of these players were going to be big contributors to our Offense. When can the Bolts ever catch a break from injuries? We are only past Week 1 and we are down a guy like Keenan Allen and more. Man, just when I thought I’d seen it all from injured Chargers.

Anyhow, I guess we just need to keep hoping for the best. We have seen Rivers make unknown receivers look like studs in past years. I have all the confidence in the world in Philip Rivers. He has a chance to really utilize WR Tyrell Williams‘ talent from this moment on. I just hope we can stay healthy following such losses to our team. Our team can’t afford more major injuries.
