Jacksonville Jaguars vs San Diego Chargers – Week 2 Preview
What’s With All the Injuries… AGAIN?
All Offseason we said our prayers and kept our fingers crossed that we would have a healthy Offensive Line in 2016. So far there’s been a pretty healthy Offensive Line, that did a great job of protecting Rivers in Week 1. However, injuries continue to strike again in other positions, all of which are Offensive players. Some important players like Jeff Cumberland, Stevie Johnson, Branden Oliver and Keenan Allen have all gone down prior to Week 2. It wasn’t until Week 3 of 2015, when all of our Offensive Lineman started falling down like dominos. Philip Rivers has expressed his shock in losing such pivotal offensive weapons this early in 2016.
Philip Rivers “If u would’ve told me week 1 we would’ve lost Cumberland, Keenan & Stevie Johnson I would’ve shook my head but here we are.”

WR Keenan Allen (Torn ACL)
What’s with all the injuries again? I know some may be thinking… “well, injuries are a part of the NFL.” Yes, they are, but this is pretty bad. Following an injury-prone year of 2015, we lose these 4 key guys already; all of these players were going to be big contributors to our Offense. When can the Bolts ever catch a break from injuries? We are only past Week 1 and we are down a guy like Keenan Allen and more. Man, just when I thought I’d seen it all from injured Chargers.
Anyhow, I guess we just need to keep hoping for the best. We have seen Rivers make unknown receivers look like studs in past years. I have all the confidence in the world in Philip Rivers. He has a chance to really utilize WR Tyrell Williams‘ talent from this moment on. I just hope we can stay healthy following such losses to our team. Our team can’t afford more major injuries.
Chargers Workout Wide Receivers to Find Replacement for Keenan Allen
The Chargers have worked out WR Aaron Dobson, WR Chris Givens and WR Griff Whalen in the past two days. They are quickly looking for a WR to fill the spot that Keenan Allen’s injury has left.

Thoughts on the #Chargers Emoji
By: Kurtis Gefrom of Bolt Banter
The NFL and Twitter teamed up to give an emoji to each NFL fanbase going into the 2016 NFL Season. Some teams emojis coincided with some of the teams iconic phrases in hashtag format, like “#KeepPounding” for the Panthers and “#WhoDey” for the Bengals. The Chargers were given an emoji similar to that of the Power Rangers logo or the Gatorade logo.
Most teams were given an emoji that was their own logo. It would have been rad to have the chargers logo following every “#Chargers” on Twitter or even following every “#BoltUp.” Our emoji is also very similar to an emoji that most folks already have on their keyboard (⚡️). It’s disappointing that our emoji is just a slight alteration of ⚡️. I mean The Dolphins weren’t awarded an emoji as cheesy as🐬, they were awarded their actual logo.
What are your thoughts on the #Chargers emoji on Twitter? Let us know in the comments below.
Chargers Elect Team Captains for 2016
By: Kurtis Gefrom of Bolt Banter
On Monday, the Bolts elected their five team captains. QB Philip Rivers, TE Antonio Gates, NT Brandon Mebane, ILB Manti Te’o and S Darrell Stuckey were chosen to represent the Chargers in 2016. Rivers & Gates represent the Offense, Mebane & Te’o the Defense and Stuckey represents Special Teams. Rivers, Gates and Stuckey were easy guesses to be elected to lead for offense and special teams. However, Mebane and Te’o come as a pleasant surprise.
Last year, the Chargers had a struggling defense that improved a bit near the end, but had disappointing year overall. The Defense seemed to lack an identity and lacked leadership. As the reset button had been pressed, we enter into the 2016 Season. The Chargers continue to grow young talent, but need leadership in 2016.
Brandon Mebane inked a contract in March to come play in San Diego. Months have now passed by and he is now a Team Captain. This illustrates a couple things about Mebane. First, he is a winner with a highly motivated attitude. This guy came from a great defense and knows what it is like to play like a champion and reach the Super Bowl. I guarantee his attitude has rubbed off on Chargers players. Second, he has made the Chargers better. Not only is he very knowledgeable about football from playing with a great Defense and being in the NFL for 9 seasons, but he’s a great player and he’s shown that in camp and during preseason games. The Chargers have been without a NT of this caliber since Jamal Williams was a Charger. The Defense believes that their success starts with Mebane taking care of business upfront.
Manti Te’o has always been a humble fellow and player for the Chargers. As he enters into a season that could be his best yet, he could be the perfect choice to set his Defense up for success. Going into his fourth year, his teammates and coaches believe in him and he knows the league now. Last year, Manti lead the team in tackles (107), gaining respect and trust going into 2016.
#Chargers OLB Kyle Emanuel: “Manti (Te’o) is like the QB of our defense” https://t.co/XDYkLWcKj1
— The Mighty 1090 (@Mighty1090) September 6, 2016
As you can see, Manti has gained the leadership role according to OLB Kyle Emanuel. This is the first full year Manti will wear a “C” on his jersey and that’s something he will take genuine honor in doing. Root for Manti as he leads this underrated Defense this year.
